Study Abroad with the Liverpool School of English

Established in 1999, our school is located in the centre of Liverpool nearby the 2 universities in town. We offer a wide range of courses for 5 levels of study to our students. Our school is equipped with 8 modern classrooms, a quiet study area, free computer and internet access and a patio garden area where you can relax and socialise with your fellow students and new friends.  We offer a variety of courses to suit your needs and a mix of cultural excursions and social activities to immerse yourself in the British culture and complement your learning experience with us.

Our teachers work hard to ensure that you achieve the most from your course. All our teachers are qualified, skilled and responsible individuals - all have degrees or further specialist qualifications in English language teaching. All have worked abroad teaching English for a number of years and are very aware of your needs while studying in a new country and environment. We are careful to provide a personal approach to our methodology and your progress are constantly reviewed to ensure you are studying at the appropriate level for you.


COURSES TO SUIT YOUR NEEDS

We offer the following courses in small classes of maximum 15 students.

- General English ~ Elementary to Advanced level
  course length: 1 to 50 weeks with 15 to 21 hours of lessons per week

- International Academic Year ~ Intermediate to Advanced level
  course length: 36 weeks with 15 to 21 hours of lessons per week

- IELTS Exam Preparation ~ Upper Intermediate to Advanced level
  course length: 1 to 12 weeks with 21 hours of lessons per week (minimum 4 weeks recommended)

- Cambridge Exam Preparation ~ Intermediate to Advanced level
  course length: 8 to 12 weeks with 21 hours of lessons per week

- Summer School  ~ A mix of study and activities for fun learning
3 hours of study in the morning with two afternoon excursions to places of cultural interest, an evening programme of activities and one full day excursion each week. This course allows you to practise your English in different environments and learn whilst holidaying.
*Residential option: Accommodation in a single study bedroom with all your meals included.
*Homestay option: Accommodation in a private room in the home of a host family including all meals

Entry Levels & Methodology

We offer English Language courses to students with a low elementary level of English.
You should have a basic knowledge of English before joining us. All students are assessed on the first day of a course through a formal test and are then allocated an appropriate class and study level. Our teachers are continually reviewing our students' progress to ensure they are placed in the correct class.

The Liverpool School of English has adopted a varied methodology to teaching the English Language which focuses on communication. Our teachers use a mixture of conversation, reading, writing, listening, vocabulary and pronunciation exercises to encourage you to communicate. Our lessons bring a balance of all skills involved in using a language.

Accommodation

All our students are offered a choice of accommodation options:

~ Homestay ~ Our Accommodation Officer takes a great deal of care in selecting the most appropriate family for you. We look in particular for people who can offer a warm, friendly welcome and who understand the needs of overseas students. All our host families are within a short bus ride to the school and offer you your own private single bedroom.Your host family will prepare breakfast and dinners for you and provide you with a packed lunch to take to school. All our families have been screened for your safety. This is another way to develop your English language skills, learn more about our culture and make lasting friendships.

~ Residential ~ Accommodation is in purpose built, single study bedrooms on or near a university campus in Liverpool. All rooms are equipped with a desk, wardrobe and drawers. You are also welcome to use the facilities of the university campus. All your meals are provided at the restaurant on campus.

~ Hotels & Guesthouses ~ Accommodation in a hotel or guest house is possible. However we do not recommend it unless you have specific reasons to do this. You will have a more social experience and be exposed to much more language and culture if you stay with one of our carefully selected host families.
