Edge Hill University is located in the market town of Ormskirk in the North West of England, close to the cities of Liverpool and Manchester. Whether you’re using our modern dance studio and rehearsal rooms in the Centre for Performing Arts, model classroom in the Faculty of Education, Sports Therapy clinic or digital animation studio, you’ll be at the cutting edge of your subject.
We welcome international students from all backgrounds to join our 3 year honours degree programmes, as well as offering study abroad programmes to students from other countries.
Entry Requirements
If a student is to be successful in their studies in England they must have a good command of English. Therefore Edge Hill does require a minimum level of written and spoken English, and you may be required to provide evidence of this. A minimum of GCSE or IGCSE English grade C, IELTS 6.5 or TOEFL 560 is normally required for entry onto undergraduate degree programmes. A list of other acceptable qualifications is available on request.
Edge Hill will consider students currently undertaking foundation programmes in the UK at other institutions, but students will still need to attain the required IELTS score.
Campus Accommodation
We recognise that travelling overseas alone can be a daunting experience so the International Office will reserve your accommodation on campus, arrange collection from Manchester Airport and meet you on campus to help you settle in.
New students live in a mixture of on-campus and off-campus accommodation, with over 650 rooms available in halls of residence.
Halls are divided into three separate areas on campus and you can select catered or non-catered accommodation. Students living in all halls benefit from:
* Kitchen and bathroom facilities on every floor.
* Rooms furnished with a bed, wardrobe, desk and chair.
* All bills included.
* Free wireless Internet access.
* Freedom to create your own space, with posters, photos and other personal items.
* Resident Hall Managers, supported by Student Assistants, providing guidance and support.
* No need to travel to reach lectures, seminars or other campus facilities
* 24 hour security.
Student Facilities
When you live on campus you will appreciate the range of facilities on offer. Freshly cooked food is available at two cafés, a restaurant and a takeaway outlet, while the shop on campus not only provides books and stationery, but food, CDs and magazines. If you run out of cash, there are two ATM machines and the Venue has dance nights, quizzes, live bands, pool and satellite TV. For the sports inclined there is our 25 acre sporting complex including gym, swimming pool and much more, or for something less energetic, live performances at the Rose Theatre. And all of this is on your doorstep when you live on campus!
The campus is home to an impressive library and Learning Innovation Centre, which boasts a fully equipped television studio. There are plenty of PCs with internet access and brand new buildings to house Media, Sport, Health and Education. Combined with our excellent academic and pastoral support, our impressive facilities enable you to achieve your goals while studying for your degree
Student Support Services
Edge Hill is a community that's friendly, welcoming and safe and you will have a real opportunity to immerse yourself in British student life. We do all we can to ensure you have a successful start to your experience at Edge Hill, which begins when we collect you from Manchester International Airport and take you to your accommodation.
International students at Edge Hill have access to all of the excellent support facilities on offer to Edge Hill students. In addition, the International Office is dedicated to supporting international students, offering friendly and helpful advice on most aspects of your stay in the UK - such as assistance with visa enquiries or simply planning trips in the UK and Europe.
Outside events organised by the Students Union and the restaurants and bars in Ormskirk, Liverpool and Manchester both offer a wide range of activities. From museums to rock concerts, ballet to pub quizzes, football to opera, most entertainment needs can be met.
There is also an International Student Assistant living on campus who can help with everyday questions and queries, helping ensure you have the best experience possible.

Edge Hill's home is Ormskirk, a small and friendly 12th century market town, with a population of 30,000 people. The town's special blend of character and history mingles well with modern shopping outlets and a host of recreational facilities. Located close to the cities of Liverpool and Manchester - it is well placed for students to take full advantage of all that the North West has to offer.

Based in 75 acres of spacious, landscaped grounds, our Ormskirk Campus combines original buildings and gardens from the 1930s with £60 million of modern resources and 25 acres of sporting leisure facilities.
