At the current time, international students are not allowed to work 20 hours a week unlike in Australia, the UK, Europe, States and other popular study abroad destination. However in summer which is from June to September, students of in the hotel and hospitality field can get full-time work permits allowing them to find work restaurants, 3-5 star hotels, hotel apartments,. At this time of year Cyprus is very busy with a large amount of European and international tourists.
Students usually get a basic salary of US$600 per month in the first year of their work with subsequent increases each year. Tips can also supplement this basic wage for students. So depending on the amount of work experience and the hotel or restaurant they are working in this can be as much as $750 - $1500 per month.
Compared to many other European countries accommodation and food expense are comparatively lower in Cyprus for the overseas student.
