About Us
Established 1992 in partnership with Swiss Hotel Association (SHA) and the South Australian Government, the International College of Hotel Management (ICHM) prepares students for a successful career at the top end of the international hotel industry.
ICHM was the first school outside of Switzerland able to offer the world renowned Swiss Hotel Association Diploma of International Hotel Management. For more than a century, the Swiss Hotel Association (SHA) has been the official organisation for the hotel industry in Switzerland, setting the standards in hotel management education for the rest of the world to follow. “Whether in Switzerland or Adelaide, the program to achieve our diploma is exactly the same and accorded the same recognition” Jean-Michel Illi – Director, Swiss Hotel Association.
Industry Placements (internships)
Industry Placements (IP) form an extremely valuable part of the ICHM courses. ICHM works with over 400 hotels around the world, building an enviable reputation for the quality and range of industry placements they arrange for their students.
As well as their academic studies, to be awarded the SHA Diploma each student is required to satisfactorily complete a minimum of 1400 hours of hospitality industry training. Some students achieve this in two, 20 - 24 week industry placement semesters, while others choose to undertake a third industry placement.
For each of their six month on campus semesters (totalling 18 months), students study practical subjects combined with a variety of management and business studies applicable to different hospitality environments.
